Overview

Build & Design: The Sony WH-1000XM5 headphone is completely made up of plastic but the overall build quality is one of the best in the market. The headrest also has memory foam which is very comfortable for longer periods of music sessions along with the ear pads which complement each other pretty well. 

The headphones have both physical buttons dedicated to a few functions and also have touch capacitive earcups which support gestures for easy music controls.

Overall the build is pretty amazing, but the designs are very subjective.

The only cons of this design are that the headphones cannot be folded, unlike the previous generations which hamper portability. 

Microphone: The new Sony WH-1000XM5 is paired with 8 microphones and the quality of the microphone has been improved drastically. The microphone quality is one of the best in the market.

Battery Life: The battery life is superb and lasts almost 30-40hours on a single charge and also supports fast charging for those quick top-ups.

Bluetooth Version & Range: The improved Bluetooth-5.2 is pretty stable and the range is also pretty good you won't feel any kind of range and disconnection issues. The pairing process is also pretty fast and easy, it also supports Google fast pairing.

Comfort: The Sony WH-1000XM5 weighs about 250gms and along with the weight, the extra padding around the ear and over the head makes it very comfortable over more extended periods of listening.

Sound Quality

Sound Output: The most essential aspect of any audio device is the sound output, this
Sony WH-1000XM5 delivers a premium experience in that aspect.
The Base is very prominent and you can feel the thump.
The Mid-tones and Vocals are also very pronounced and very clear.
The High-tones are also very well pronounced.
The audio can be fully tweaked easily using the in-built equaliser in the app and it works pretty brilliantly.
The headphone does have excellent sound quality, and the overall experience is certainly on the premium side. There are also no lip-syncing issues while watching videos or movies. If you are an audiophile(music-lover) then you will enjoy listening to it.
The gaming experience is also decent for casual gaming, it does the job, for serious gaming prefer a wired connection.  

Overall one of the best sounding earphones in the market.

Verdict

The headphones retail at around Rs 30,000, and the product offers decent value for money. If ANC is a very high priority along with battery life and you have the budget then just go for it. You can also look at Sony WH-1000XM4 which is much more value for money.
